Buyer

The Buyer reports to the Purchasing Manager

Location

This role will be based in Bloomington, MN or Des Moines, IA

Responsibilities

  • Process and work inventory management reporting tools including, but not limited to: Purchase Order Requirements Generation (PORG), Days on Hand, Process Purchase Order Reports, Open Purchase Order Reports on a weekly basis
  • Responsible for issuing purchase orders to the supply base
  • Effective management of the open order board, ensuring system updates with accurate information for all orders
  • Manage elevated expedite orders and coordinate with the appropriate personnel to ensure minimal supply chain interruption
  • Quote standard and smaller dollar items that support company goals and guidelines
  • Responsible for timely processing of purchase order confirmations from the supply base to ensure accuracy of purchase order details
  • Active participation with the supply base to develop relationships
  • Negotiate small dollar agreements
  • Disposition of rejected material within the assigned buying areas by coordinating across departments to ensure minimal interruption to the customer
  • Support accounting through timely resolution of invoice discrepancies
  • Other duties as assigned

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree (or pursuit of) in business-related field, preferably concentrating in Supply Chain or Purchasing

Work Experience 

  • 3+ years of related experience in a Buying/Purchasing role

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Word, including ability to do VLOOKUPs in Excel



Inside Sales Representative

The Inside Sales Representative reports to the Director of Sales

Responsibilities

  • Manage open order flow
  • Expedite and facilitate special delivery requirements
  • Review contracts
  • Provide samples and technical assistance
  • Maintain customer contract database
  • Manage quote process
  • Prepare and submit formal quotation directly to customer or provide to outside
    sales for presentation to customer
  • Maintain quote log (pipe drive)
  • Work with TSM to support and develop assigned customers by seeking new sales opportunities within the account.
  • Assist with preparation and presentation, as needed, of account SBR
  • Schedule PQP team meetings for class one automotive parts
  • Other duties as assigned

Education 

  • High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience 

  • 2 years related work experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Supplier Quality Engineer 

The Supplier Quality Engineer reports to the Director of Technical Services

Location 

  •   This role will be in based Cincinnati, OH or Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities 

  • Corporate quality representative for supplier-facing activities

  • Monitor supplier performance

  • Perform supplier audits and assessments

  • Interact with suppliers to assess and resolve technical issues

  • Assist with root cause analysis on product concerns

  • Attend strategic supplier reviews as the quality representative

  • Assist with maintaining ISO 9001 compliance

  • Traveling is required up to 40%

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience within the fastener industry preferred 

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience interfacing with suppliers

  • A minimum of 5 years working in a distribution environment

  • Experience reviewing and resolving technical issues from a supplier and quality perspective

  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 QMS

  • Experience in addressing non-conforming product issues and performing 8D corrective actions

  • Preference for familiarity in (and a working knowledge of) fastener-related specifications such as but not limited to: ASTM, ASME, IFI, MIL, and DIN


Director of Operational Excellence

The Director of Operational Excellence reports to the President of AFC Industries and is a corporate resource responsible for continuous improvement projects and the implementation of best practices in the AFC warehousing, kitting, and Vendor Managed Inventory replenishment operations.

Location

  • This position can be located anywhere in the USA

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and train CI and LEAN principals as applied to AFC operations
  • Develop and ensure local operations adhere to AFC consistency and best practice benchmarks
  • Project manage corporate operations projects
  • Provide coaching and advice to AFC Operations Directors and Regional Vice Presidents
  • Assist as needed with program launches and resets
  • Assist as needed with integration of newly acquired businesses

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience

Work Experience

  • 7+ years experience in warehousing and distribution environment (Component VMI experience preferred)
  • 3+ years exposure to material flow in manufacturing and/or assembly plants
  • Detailed knowledge and application of the following LEAN enterprise tools: VSM, 5S, Standardized Workflow, TPM, and Continuous Flow/ Pull Systems. (Certification preferred)
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, PDCA cycle and other operational improvement approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a high-transaction multi-site environment
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Intermediate level abilities with Office 365 and project management tools
  • Ability to travel extensively.
